Why do you have to pay a Processing fee?
Even though the blood is obtained from voluntary blood donors, the cost of collection, screening, processing and storage has to be borne by the recipients. Jeevan is a not for profit organization and is dependent on this cost recovery for its existence. In addition, Jeevan recovers an additional fee for Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT). Nucleic Acid Testing, used to test more than 50% of world's blood donations, ensures availability of safest blood components to patients.
Here is a quick chart of the processing fee:
| Item | Processing Fee | NAT fee | Total/Unit |
| Packed Red blood Cells | Rs.850 | Rs.700 | Rs.1550 |
| Platelet Concentrate | Rs.600 | Rs.700 | Rs.1300 |
| Fresh Frozen Plasma | Rs.600 | Rs.700 | Rs.1300 |
| Cryo - Precipitate | Rs.200 | Rs.700 | Rs.900 |
| Whole Blood | Rs.950 | Rs.700 | Rs.1650 |
Jeevan never stands still. As scientific advances result in better methods and improved performance, the Jeevan team implements these new techniques and tests to ensure that safer blood component(s) is a continuing reality. Recent introduction of NAT tested blood components is an additional layer of safety Jeevan provides.
